The PODI Project

The PODI project is dedicated to finding solutions to provide a means of passive protection, principally from the shark species, to those who choose to engage in water based activities.

The PODI device will allow the user to safely use the water and humanely repel any shark from its range.

The ingredients are based on natural elements and have zero negative impact on both the environment and the numerous other species inhabiting the sea.

 Field Trials

Stage 1  - South Africa

PODI launched its first sea trials at the end of January 2018. Although tests were inconclusive, out of the 9 samples tested on the sharks (species listed below), one showed significant promise. All being well, PODI plans to continue to the next stage of field trials at the end of 2018.

At this early stage in the semiochemical development, it was deemed responsible to test on "smaller" species of sharks < 1m. These tests were undertake offshore away from any beach goers or other water users, by trained diving professionals
